The presentation was well-received and WW is now an integral part of a major initiative to install 155 Automated Weather Stations (AWS) throughout Pakistan. National Centre in Big Data and Cloud Computing (NCBC) is a consortium of 12 Labs hosted at 11 universities of Pakistan. The secretariat is hosted at LUMS. NCBC focuses on R&D and human resource development in the specialized field of Big Data and Cloud Computing and its practical applications, which are important components of Vision 2025. The role of Big Data Analytics and Cloud Computing is growing in many businesses and applications domains and has become extremely critical to economic growth and national competitiveness. NCBC aims at becoming the leading hub of innovation, scientific research, knowledge transfer to local economy, and training in the area of data analytics, cloud computing, and data science. Over the years, the need for improved weather data and information has increased. Thus, to make accurate predictions of energy consumption, the Energy Sector needs accurate weather data which lies at the core of WW. Therefore, with the forthcoming launch of Competitive Trading Bilateral Contract Market (CTBCM) in the country, which is the NEPRA approved model for the Wholesale Electricity Market of Pakistan, WW can provide appropriate direction to the dynamic researchers led by Dr. Naveed Arshad. WW’s dense network of Weather Stations coupled with a Weather Operation Centre has the ability to provide a curated, stable, long-term weather record with sub daily observations across the country appropriate for typical electricity sector analysis along with accurate forecasts and nowcasts for generating seasonal predictions of temperature. Improvements to energy use projections, through improved weather and climate forecasts, will increase electricity stability and reduce rates by allowing utility companies to make informed decisions about infrastructure and market purchases

WeatherWalay (WW) has formed a partnership with Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) for a pioneering project to enhance rainfall in the Cholistan desert. This pilot project (artificial rain) is estimated to cost Rs 10 billion and has the potential to dramatically increase the volume of rainfall, creating a unique agro-economic zone spanning 6.5 million acres. WW is enthusiastic about this opportunity to contribute to Pakistan's development and is hopeful that the project will also aid in reducing air pollution levels in Lahore.
